Those are two different facts and we keep them separate on purpose, because a company age and a person's experience are not the same thing and it matters that a builder tells you which is which.

Bes is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Building, which is the MCIOB after his name, and an Associate of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, which is the AssocRICS. He also holds an NVQ Level 7 in construction management, which is the highest level of NVQ awarded in the discipline. Both the CIOB and the RICS keep public registers, so none of this requires you to take our word for it.

Bes is also a Registered Building Inspector, Class 2, registered with the Building Safety Regulator. Registration became a legal requirement for building inspectors in England on 6 April 2024 under the Building Safety Act regime, and the register is public. It is the rarest thing on this page and it is worth being precise about what it does and does not mean. It does not mean BXC does your building control, and it does not mean we sign off our own work. An inspector is not permitted to carry out building control on work his own company has designed or built, so your building control still comes from the council or from a building control approver you appoint, exactly as it would with any other builder. What it means is that the man running your build has been assessed on the Building Regulations from the inspector's side of the table, which is why the details that usually get picked up at inspection tend to be right first time.

Beams get sized by a structural engineer and foundations get dug to what the ground requires. We supply the calculations. Nothing structural gets eyeballed.

What is a Registered Building Inspector?
It is a regulated role. Since 6 April 2024 anyone carrying out building control work in England has had to be registered with the Building Safety Regulator, and registrations are held in classes. Bes is registered at Class 2. The register is public, so this is a checkable fact rather than a badge on a website.

Does that mean BXC signs off its own building work?
No, and we want to be blunt about that because it is the obvious thing for a reader to assume. A registered inspector is not permitted to carry out building control on work in which his own company has a professional or financial interest, which includes work his company designed or built. Your building control comes from Luton Borough Council, or the relevant council, or from a building control approver you appoint. What you get from us is a builder who knows what the inspector is going to look at.

Do you have a yard or an office I can visit?
No. BXC Developments is a service area business, which means we travel to customers and do not publish a trade address. If you want to meet, we will come to your property, which is where the useful conversation happens anyway.
